Sammarko Lightbourne -The Bahamas

Born and raised in Exuma, Sammarko Lightbourne is a writer, activist, and environmentalist. He graduated from the L. N. Coakley High School in 2010 as Head Boy and went on to pursue his love for writing by attaining a B.A in English Studies at The University of The Bahamas (2010-2014). He is currently completing his manuscript as an MFA in Creative Writing student at The The University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus. Now serving as a reporter, Sammarko is committed to investigating and advocating for the needs of Family Islanders during the pandemic. Believing that COVID-19 requires unity in the community, Sammarko actively seeks to be the voice of the minority and creatively seeks to bring awareness to best practices regarding the pandemic.
